Matariki lands on Friday 10 July this year, and for many of us it has become the best kind of holiday: slow, warm, and built around a shared table. If you are hosting whanau or friends this midwinter, the dessert course is a lovely place to mark the occasion.
A sky on the cake
A deep navy topper with a gold star cluster turns a simple white cake into a night sky - no piping skill required, just peel and place. It looks striking by candlelight, which is exactly how a Matariki table should be lit. Upload your own design and we will print it on edible icing at whatever size your cake needs.
Keep the rest simple
- Warm drinks: mulled apple juice for the kids, something stronger for the adults.
- Kai to share: this is peak season for our stuffed cookies, best eaten warm, ten seconds in the microwave.
- A moment to pause: names of the stars, a memory each, then dessert.
Plan the courier
Midwinter weeks book up and we ship Monday to Thursday, overnight NZ-wide. Order a few days ahead of your gathering and everything arrives ready for the table.
Manawatia a Matariki - and save us a slice.
